CCSD59 sends off Class of 2021 under the lights
As students in the Class of 2021 navigated their final year of junior high school, they and their teachers consistently found ways to innovate within the classroom and remote learning experience. They were exposed to environments and circumstances never seen before in education, and they did so with great determination and success.
Now, as they find themselves on the doorstep of the next stage of their education, these students received a fitting recognition before the school year ends this week.
The district celebrated outgoing eighth grade students on Monday and Tuesday evening with in-person graduation ceremonies. These were made possible through the collaboration and hospitality of High School District 214, which allowed Friendship and Grove Junior High to utilize the football stadium at Elk Grove High School for their events and Holmes to do the same at Rolling Meadows High School.
A limited number of friends and family members were able to attend in safely distanced pods on the field and in the stands. While they were able to watch their children walk across the stage in person, each venue also provided a live stream for those not in attendance to view at home.
We are grateful our eighth grade class can hold onto this memory of celebrating their accomplishments among classmates, teachers, and family. There is great pride in what these students have accomplished during their time in elementary and junior high, and we wish them the best of luck as they enter high school. Thank you for being such a significant part of CCSD59.
