Illinois School Report Card Release
On Friday, October 31, the Illinois School Report Cards will be released by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), and the report cards for CCSD59 schools will be available to access on our website. The School Report Cards for Illinois were updated in 2013 to more thoroughly portray a school’s performance; including academic performance, climate and learning conditions, and descriptions of programs offered.

Academic performance reported in the 2014 School Report Card will include results of the 2014 Illinois Standards Assessment Test (ISAT), which was the final year of the ISAT test. As we look at the ISAT results from year to year, it is important to note that in 2013, performance expectations were increased significantly causing school results across the state to drop significantly. Then in 2014, the ISAT test was modified to include test items that were 100% based on the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for the first time ever.
For these reasons, it is important to look at the multiple indicators of school performance that are reflected on the School Report Card. It is also important to be aware that a new test, called PARCC, will debut in 2015 to replace ISAT. The PARCC test is fully aligned to CCSS and will demand that students show critical thinking, problem-solving, and strong literacy skills to complete the complex, meaningful, and real-world tasks that are expected to be part of the test.
How is CCSD59 designing curriculum and instruction to prepare students for the changing expectation of PARCC and for success in college, career, and beyond? Read about the launch of our new curriculum units to learn more.
